Sick Spartans. This last Saturday snuck up on us. We got a Groupon back in November for this mud run that was this last Saturday. Had they not sent us emails we would have missed it entirely.
Saturday approached and it was cold an rainy, compared to the weekend before that was warm and sunny. All I could think of was why am I doing this when I could be at a birthday party with friends…
Turns out what I thought was a 5K was actually a 5 mile obstacle course race, and I didn’t learn that until we were 2 miles in. To add to it I had head congestion. I thought I was going to die and wanted to walk the entire time (I might have had Isaac not stayed with me). Then at about mile three the congestion finally cleared and I could breath, that was when I started to enjoy myself. From there we carried sand bags up a hill, walked across stumps, climbed over walls, under fences, up a rope, through COLD muddy water, and a final mud crawl under barb wire ending with jumping over fire. It was a blast and although the water and mud was cold, they thankfully kept it limited to the last mile.
On the shuttle considering my options to get out of it. I just couldn’t quit before I even started, not when we paid to go do this.
The team we “ran” with, I only finished just over 15 minutes after them.

Apparently you had to act crazy to get your picture taken ;) Thanks Josh!
Now I’m not sure we really should have done this because this week I am sick AGAIN!!!! I am so done with being sick. I looked back on the calendar, I have been either sick or getting back on my feet ever since my siblings left on the 8th of January. Seriously?! I have friends I want to go see and play with, I have a nephew I want to go see, but just have not been able to make it. So I decided who cares about having a clean bathroom, floors, laundry, and what not, next time we are all healthy I am getting out and I’m going to go see those babies! WORST COLD and FLU SEASON EVER!!!!
Hahaha! I love this! I love the hilarity of it and I love that you didn’t know what you were doing until half way through! Hahaha! Awesome. and I agree. Don’t worry about the house —- trust me, the mess will still be there no matter what. :) I’ve had one winter that was just like this. It IS miserable!
oh my awesomeness!!! That is so cool. Wish we could have been there with you crawling through the mud. =) You look fantastic by the way! I hope you get better soon sis. Love you!
ps i love love love that picture of Josh. He needs it framed. =)
Love it! You guys are so great. Get well soon! ditto Amber about framing that picture of Josh. It’s awesome!
I hadn’t seen that picture of Josh. It’s awesome! I wonder if he’s even seen it…. I’m right there with you wishing all this sickness would go away ASAP! Good job on finishing the run. You are an inspiration to me :)
I didn’t even know you and Ike did that. I knew Josh did. I love that pic BTW.
